The City of Tualatin serves more than 26,000 people every day, purchasing water from the City of Portland.

The water purchased from the City of Portland comes from the Bull Run Reservoir, which is located 30 miles outside of Portland and is delivered via gravity feed. During summer months and emergency situations, the City of Portland uses water from the Columbia Southshore Well Field to augment supplies from Bull Run.

Tualatin has the ability to access the Wilsonville Water Treatment Plant if voters choose to approve the use of the Willamette River as a source. Population growth estimates show Tualatin increasing from 26,025 to 33,000 people by 2050; while peak demand estimates for water use show a projected increase of 9.7 mgd, to 12.8 mgd by 2050 for Tualatin.

Tualatin has no plans to connect to the Wilsonville Water Treatment Plant.
